KRIMI
NEW BOB MORICZ SHORT RELEASED FOR REVIEW!!!

Shot in Portland, Oregon on a ten dollar Fisher Price toy video camera, Moricz conjures the seamy vibe of the Euro Krimi - a type of crime drama, like the Italian giallo, filled with lurid elements - in this ultra-no-fi super saturated story of Vic Slezak, a trans assassin looking to save his niece from the criminal underground in a city of vice and depravity.

Vic encounters a series of grotesques in a quest to save his family, including the burrito chomping public restroom lurking Mr. Baby, Gongo the deformed psychic assistant, and the evil crime lord Mancuso, among many others.

The motion picture captures the vibe of a long gone Portland, mixing the personal and the experimental with the tried and true cinematic tropes of mainstream cinema in a funny and twisted underground take on the crime drama.

2015, 25 minutes, color

BOB MORICZ BIO

Born in 1973 on the California Peninsula, Bob was the weird kid who drew gory comics and tormented kids with insects and other gross things. Discovering the magic of movies happened early and he was soon shooting his own Super 8mm backyard epics with the help of his father.

As moviemaking became more accessible to the public, he adapted somewhat but stuck to no-fi personal filmmaking techniques and technologies. He has no urge or desire to shoot in 4k. His images can be smudged by haunted by spectral fingerprints from the ghosts of cinema past and future.

In 2006 he moved from Sacramento to Portland, Oregon, where he was seduced by the art side of the world where he participated in a full and vibrant scene before the Blob of gentrification changed the demographics of the city. After years of unemployment, the town had spit him out. He came back to Sacramento with his beloved partner Irina and their two kids in 2014.

Today, Bob continues making short movies, features, videos, and music videos, and playing in his band Witch Mask in Sacramento, CA. Every now and then he puts on an underground movie screening. On the streets you may find him with a tiny camera pointed at people doing crazy things.
